Hey guys! I've been playing around with puff pastry lately and came up with a yummy recipe. Well, I wouldn't consider it a recipe because I was randomly putting things together that sounded good. I ended up with bite-sized pieces of puff pastry covered in almonds and sugar. As I am writing this, I am wondering why I didn't add desiccated coconut on the top as well. THAT WOULD BE SO GOOD. I know what I'm going to be trying out soon:) Anyways onto the recipe!
Ingredients:
-Puff pastry sheet, cut into small rectangles
-1/2 cup sugar
-1/2 cup of almonds, toasted and chopped
-1 egg
-1 tbsp of water
Recipe:
-Preheat oven to 400 F
-Mix the sugar and almonds in a bowl
-In another bowl, make an egg wash by beating together the egg and water (this allows the pastry to turn golden brown)
-On each puff pastry rectangle, brush on a layer of egg wash and sprinkle on about 1/2 a tsp of the almond sugar mixture (I don't think anyone will complain if you put more:))
-Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Done!
Honestly, how much easier can it get!
